Weapons are equippable items with which the player character deals physical damage. They are classified into swords, piercing weapons, cleaving weapons, bludgeoning weapons, throwing weapons and bows. The player character can equip any weapons, but using them effectively requires appropriate and sufficient skills. Using a weapon the player character is not sufficiently skilled in incurs an Unskilled Weapon Penalty of -25% to hit and -25% damage.
Weapons are made from different types of wood or metal, and can possess magickal modifications. A weapon's base damage ouput is determined by its material and the player character's corresponding skill level. Weapons can be found in chests around the game world, as from certain fallen enemies, or bought from blacksmiths.
Throughout Book III, you'll find items of extraordinary power or with unusual abilities to help you with your quest. Generally, they weigh 4 or 5 times less than their ordinary counterparts and have far greater durability.
